Ship propellers are prone to cavitation corrosion during high-speed rotation, resulting in the formation of numerous honeycomb shaped pits on the surface. This not only reduces propulsion efficiency, but also shortens the service life of the propeller. Traditional repair methods often use manual welding, which results in a lifespan of only 12-18 months after repair and requires frequent dock repairs. The Daokedao laser cladding equipment has developed WC Co composite cladding materials for ship working conditions. The material is reinforced with nanoscale particles and has an 80% lower anti cavitation corrosion rate than traditional copper alloy propeller materials. A Greek shipping company used this technology to repair the propellers of its 50000 ton cargo ships, resulting in a 30% increase in propeller surface smoothness, a 2% increase in ship propulsion efficiency, and a 3% reduction in fuel consumption per voyage. More importantly, the repaired propeller has been running continuously for 2.5 years without any obvious corrosion marks, reducing the need for one dock repair compared to traditional repair methods. The cost of dock shutdown and maintenance alone has saved over 300000 US dollars, while avoiding a loss of about 500000 US dollars due to cargo delays caused by suspension.
