As vulnerable parts that come into direct contact with rocks and soil, the bucket teeth of excavators have a service life of only about 3 months in high-intensity operation scenarios such as mining and infrastructure. They not only need to be replaced frequently, but also affect the construction progress due to downtime caused by replacement. The Daokedao laser cladding equipment melts a high chromium cast iron and steel based composite coating on the surface of the bucket teeth. Through a special metallurgical bonding process, the coating has both the high hardness of HRC60 and excellent impact toughness of ≥ 15J/cm ², perfectly balancing wear resistance and impact resistance. A large mining company in Brazil applied this technology to the repair of excavator bucket teeth, which extended the service life of bucket teeth from 3 months to 12 months and reduced the annual replacement frequency from 4 times to 1 time. Based on the scale of 20 excavators in the company, the annual cost savings of bucket teeth procurement exceed $800000, while reducing downtime caused by replacement of bucket teeth by about 160 hours. The additional amount of ore excavated reaches 40000 tons, indirectly creating economic benefits of over $2 million.
