Repair of injection mold: Dow adapts to the needs of high-cycle mass production

Injection mould is the core component for mass production of plastic products. It is widely used in household appliances, automobiles, electronics and other industries. It needs to withstand 180-300 ℃ high temperature melt scouring, repeated mechanical impact of opening and closing mould, and corrosion of plastic additives. It is easy to cause mold cavity wear, gate die sticking, exhaust slot blockage and other failures. In the high-cycle mass production scenario, the mold failure will lead to such defects as product size deviation, surface scratch and material shortage, and the scrap rate will rise; The traditional polishing repair will reduce the precision of the mold cavity, the overlaying repair will easily cause the deformation of the mold, and the frequent replacement of new mold will greatly increase the production cost. Based on the requirements of high cycle and high precision of injection molding die, Dow Laser Cladding Equipment adopts nano wear-resistant anti-corrosion coating cladding scheme to adapt to the processing characteristics of different plastic materials such as PP, PC and ABS.

With precise temperature control cladding technology, the heat affected zone of the equipment is controlled within 0.15-0.25mm to avoid deformation of the mould matrix. The surface roughness of cladding layer Ra ≤ 0.2 μ m, which can be directly put into use without subsequent polishing. For the bumper injection mould of an auto parts factory, it was required to stop for polishing every 50000 mould times due to the wear of mould cavity. The single polishing cycle was 2 days, and the product scrap rate reached 3.1%. The mould runs continuously for 150000 times without obvious wear after being repaired and strengthened by the Dow laser cladding equipment, the polishing period is extended by 3 times, and the product scrap rate is reduced to 0.8%. The repair cost of a single set of mold is only 20% of the cost of new mold replacement, which can save more than 300000 yuan of mold maintenance and replacement cost each year. Meanwhile, the continuity of high-cycle mass production is guaranteed, and the productivity stability is increased by 18%.
