The surface roughness of the cold rolling mill rolls is extremely high and needs to be controlled within ≤ 0.8 μ m to ensure the surface quality of the cold-rolled steel plate. Traditional grinding repair techniques result in a reduction of 0.5mm in roll diameter each time they are repaired. After multiple repairs, the rolls are scrapped due to their small size and have a short service life. The Daokedao laser cladding equipment adopts ultra-fine cladding technology, and the surface roughness of the coating after cladding can directly reach Ra1.2 μ m. After simple polishing, it can achieve a mirror effect of Ra0.4 μ m, and each repair only reduces the diameter of the rolling mill by 0.1mm, which is much lower than traditional grinding technology. After a large steel plant in South Korea applied this equipment to the repair of cold rolling mill rolls, the total service life of the rolls was extended from 5 repairs to 12 repairs, and the service life of a single roll was extended from 8 months to 24 months.
