The wear of the engine piston ring groove is the main reason for the decrease in engine power and the increase in oil consumption. Daokedao laser cladding technology uses special nickel based alloy powder to prepare wear-resistant coatings on the groove of aluminum alloy piston rings. The problem of difficult bonding between aluminum matrix and high melting point cladding materials has been solved through material design (adding active elements such as Si and Ti) and process optimization (high power, high scanning speed shallow melting process). The thickness of the cladding layer is 1.0-1.5mm, the hardness is HRC55-60, and the bonding strength with the substrate exceeds 300MPa. The bench test showed that the wear of the strengthened piston ring groove was reduced by 80%, and the service life was more than three times that of the base aluminum material, effectively extending the overhaul cycle.
