For cylinders installed on large equipment that are difficult to disassemble or have extremely high transportation costs (such as cylinder liners for ship main propulsion diesel engines), on-site laser cladding technology has enormous engineering value. This case successfully implemented this challenging task.
The project adopts an integrated mobile laser remanufacturing system, including a miniaturized fiber laser, powder feeder, six degree of freedom robot arm, and a complete set of protection and dust removal systems. The repair process is carried out in the cabin: first, the inner wall of the cylinder with strain is bored and cleaned on site; Then, the robot carries a laser cladding head deep into the cylinder body to perform autonomous path planning for cladding operations; Finally, perform on-site honing.
The entire repair process does not require lifting or dismantling the engine, shortening the traditional several week maintenance cycle to within 5 days and reducing downtime by more than 70%, avoiding huge economic losses caused by production stoppage for customers. This case proves the feasibility of laser remanufacturing technology moving from fixed workshops to mobile sites, and is a model of the integration of manufacturing and services.
