Compared with traditional electroplating repair processes, laser cladding repair of strained piston rods has significant advantages in terms of economy and efficiency. Laser cladding can omit processes such as chrome plating, thereby shortening maintenance cycles by more than 60% and reducing costs by about 50%. Although the hardness of the laser cladding layer (such as about 520 HV) may be slightly lower than some electroplating layers (such as about 750 HV), it is metallurgically bonded to the substrate, with a bonding strength much higher than the mechanical bonding of the electroplating layer, and has better corrosion resistance. Therefore, in the repair of hydraulic cylinder piston rods, the service life of laser cladding layers can reach 6 times that of electroplated repair parts. In addition, laser cladding technology belongs to the category of green manufacturing, which avoids environmental pollution caused by electroplating solutions.
