In corrosive environments such as coastal or chemical environments, piston rods often face a dual effect of electrochemical corrosion and wear. Laser cladding NiCrBSi coating can effectively address this challenge. The microstructure of NiCrBSi coating is usually dominated by γ - Ni solid solution, and various strengthening phases such as carbides and borides are formed. For example, laser cladding NiCrBSi coating on the surface of a 45 steel piston rod can achieve a stable hardness of 500-600 HV and excellent corrosion resistance. The salt spray test showed that the corrosion point appeared on the cladding layer after 300 hours, far exceeding the corrosion resistance of the electroplated layer for about 70 hours. This enables the piston rod to effectively resist pitting, abrasion, and erosion in seawater media, greatly extending its service life in harsh environments.
