Laser Welding for Medical Catheter and Tubing Components

Medical catheters and tubing are used in a wide range of clinical applications, including vascular access, drug delivery, and fluid management. These components require precise, biocompatible joints that are smooth, internal-burr-free, and leak-proof to ensure patient safety and comfort. Traditional welding methods may produce internal burrs (≥0.1mm) that can damage blood vessels or tissue, or cause leaks that lead to fluid loss or contamination. DaokeDao plastic laser welding provides smooth, internal-burr-free welds (internal burr ≤0.02mm) that ensure good fluid flow and patient safety. The non-contact process focuses laser energy precisely on the weld joint, avoiding internal burrs and maintaining the inner diameter of catheters and tubing (inner diameter tolerance ≤±0.03mm). It achieves reliable leak-proof seals (leakage rate ≤0.005ml/min at 0.3bar) that meet medical standards, preventing fluid leakage and contamination. The process is compatible with medical-grade plastics commonly used in catheters and tubing, including PE, PP, PVC, and PTFE, all of which meet biocompatibility standards (ISO 10993). Our laser systems feature micron-level positioning accuracy (±0.005mm), enabling precise welding of small-diameter and thin-wall structures (down to 0.5mm diameter, 0.1mm wall thickness). They support the mass production (up to 150 units/hour) of catheters and tubing with consistent quality, helping medical device manufacturers improve product reliability and patient comfort.
