The screw in 3D printing equipment is the core component of material conveying and plasticizing. When processing high temperature consumables (such as PEEK, PAEK, PEI, etc.), the screw shall be able to withstand the high temperature above 380 ℃, and the corrosion and abrasion of degradation products of high temperature consumables shall be handled. The traditional 3D printing screw is made of common alloy, which is easy to be worn by the screw edge and corroded by the surface under high temperature environment, resulting in uneven material plastification, reduced density of the printing piece, and even blockage failure, which seriously affects the printing quality and efficiency. The high cost and limited service life of changing the special screw for high temperature increase the operating cost of 3D printing enterprises. Based on the demand of high temperature consumables for 3D printing screw processing, Dow Laser Cladding Equipment has customized a high temperature anti-corrosion alloy coating cladding scheme. The coating can withstand high temperature above 380 ℃ for a long time, the coating porosity is ≤ 0.5%, and the density is high, which can effectively resist the corrosion of high temperature degradation products.
For cladding process, laser power and powder feeding rate are accurately controlled to ensure metallurgical bonding between cladding layer and screw matrix, with bonding strength ≥ 450MPa. Meanwhile, dimensional accuracy of screw edge is ensured, without affecting material conveying and plastification stability. The high-temperature 3D printer screw of a 3D printing equipment factory had the spiral edge wear after continuous use of 50kg when processing PEEK consumables, and the density of the printed parts was only 92%. By using the laser cladding equipment of Dokdo, the screw rod continuously processes the PEEK material of 500kg without obvious wear, the density of the printing piece is increased to 95%, and the printing quality is significantly improved. The service life of the strengthened screw rod is 10 times longer than that before, and the maintenance period is 3 times longer. The strengthening cost of a single screw rod is only 30% of that of a new high temperature special screw rod, greatly reducing the equipment maintenance cost and consumable loss cost of the enterprise. Meanwhile, the personalized cladding scheme of the equipment can adapt to different types of 3D printing screws to meet the customized requirements of enterprises.
