The half shaft of a car is subjected to driving torque and impact loads, which can easily lead to spline wear and fatigue fracture of the shaft body. The service life of a traditional 40Cr half shaft is only 80000 to 100000 kilometers. The Daokedao automated laser cladding equipment uses 35CrMo chromium molybdenum steel powder to melt a 2mm strengthening layer on the half shaft spline and shaft neck transition area. The hardness of the cladding layer is HRC45-50, the fatigue strength is increased by 40% compared to the original half shaft, and the wear resistance of the spline is increased by three times. According to an application from a commercial vehicle factory, the service life of the fused half axle has been extended to 200000 kilometers, and the fracture failure rate has been reduced from 5% to 0.2%. The fully automatic loading and unloading system of the equipment enables the single half axle to be fused in just 15 minutes, which is suitable for mass production needs.
