The core reason why mining enterprises favor laser cladding

In mining operations, wear-prone components such as crusher jaw plates and scraper conveyor chains account for a significant portion of maintenance costs. Traditional overlay welding repair techniques, due to their high heat input, typically result in post-repair part deformation of 3-5mm, requiring extensive machining corrections. Moreover, the bonding strength between the overlay layer and base material is only around 200MPa, leading to spalling after just 1-2 months of use.  The Daoke Dao laser cladding equipment employs a low-stress cladding process, precisely controlling laser energy density to compress the heat-affected zone to within 0.3mm. This enables post-repair deformation of less than 0.1mm for components like jaw plates, allowing direct installation without secondary machining. The high-wear-resistant alloy coating produced through cladding achieves a bonding strength of 520MPa, far surpassing traditional overlay welding techniques.  A major iron ore mine in Australia previously required bi-monthly crusher overhauls. After introducing this equipment, jaw plate lifespan was extended from 3 months to 10 months, and scraper conveyor chain replacement cycles were prolonged from 2 months to 7 months. Annual downtime for repairs was reduced by 60%, with direct savings of $450,000 in spare parts procurement costs alone. The equipment manager remarked, "This is the key technology for enhancing mine operational efficiency.".
