The design process is as follows: Firstly, 3D modeling and force analysis of the drill bit are carried out to clarify the performance requirements of each area. Then, different cladding materials are assigned to different regions in the digital model: for example, using a high proportion of tungsten carbide composite powder at the cutting edge; Use high-strength nickel based alloy on the handle that bears the main torque; In non critical areas, lower cost iron-based alloys are used.
Finally, all different materials can be automatically melted in one clamping process through offline programming of robots or five axis linked laser machining centers. This integrated design and manufacturing of drill bits achieves the best balance between performance and cost, and its comprehensive service life is twice that of single material drill bits, representing the future development direction of drilling tool manufacturing.
