For end caps with complex structures or severe damage, it is sometimes necessary to combine multiple repair techniques. For example, when repairing the shell and end cover of the PC-271 tail gas compressor in the styrene plant, a composite repair technique combining laser cladding and manual arc welding was used to address the large, numerous, and deep honeycomb corrosion pits that appeared in its internal cavity (including the end cover area). When repairing, it is possible to first weld repair the defects on the end cap, and then use laser cladding to form a coating layer with high hardness, good wear resistance, and corrosion resistance on the surface that requires specific protection. This composite repair technology utilizes its respective advantages to ensure the smooth and normal operation of the repaired compressor (including the end cap).
