Laser cladding technology uses high-energy laser beams to rapidly melt and solidify the pre placed or synchronously transported alloy powder and a thin layer on the surface of the piston rod substrate, forming a metallurgical bonding coating. This rapid melting process significantly refines and densifies the coating structure, with grain sizes reaching 10-12 levels, thereby significantly improving surface hardness. For example, by melting nickel based or cobalt based alloys on the surface of 40Cr or 35CrMo steel piston rods, the coating hardness can be stabilized to HV ₀ 500-600, or even higher. Compared to traditional electroplating processes, laser cladding layers not only have higher hardness, but also have high bonding strength and no risk of peeling due to their metallurgical bonding with the substrate. This technology is particularly suitable for surface strengthening of hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder piston rods under high load and strong impact conditions.
