The gears in precision instruments (such as optical measuring instruments and electronic detection equipment) are characterized by small size, small modulus and high precision requirements. The gear surface wear, larger backlash and other problems will directly lead to the decline of instrument measurement accuracy, transmission jamming and even failure to work normally. Due to the precise structure of this kind of gear, the traditional machining repair method is very easy to cause the gear size deviation, while the common welding repair will damage the gear accuracy due to thermal deformation, and the repair is very difficult. In most cases, only a new gear can be replaced, the cost is high and the supply period is long. Aiming at the repair pain points of precision instrument gears, Dow Laser Cladding Equipment adopts the micro-beam laser cladding technology to precisely control the diameter of cladding spots within 0.2mm. With high-precision visual positioning system, it can realize the accurate repair of key parts such as tiny tooth surface and tooth root.
In terms of repair process, the equipment adopts the low dilution rate cladding scheme, with the dilution rate ≤ 5%, so as to ensure that the composition of the cladding layer is stable, and form a solid metallurgical bond with the gear matrix, without falling off, stripping and other phenomena. For a high-end spectrometer gear of a precision optical instrument factory, the gear surface was worn due to long-term high-frequency operation, and the backlash was expanded from the original design of 0.005-0.01mm to 0.025mm, resulting in excessive deviation of instrument measurement data. The gear backlash is successfully restored to the original design standard range, the transmission error is reduced by 40%, and the measurement accuracy of the instrument is restored to the new machine level after the repair with the Dow laser cladding equipment. Through long-term stability test, the service life of repaired gear reaches 95% of that of new part, while the repair cost is only 30% of that of new gear, and the repair cycle only takes 24 hours, which is far shorter than the 15-day supply cycle of new gear, effectively guaranteeing the production progress of the enterprise. At the same time, the low-temperature cladding process of the equipment avoids the thermal deformation of the gear matrix, and ensures that the accuracy of other parts of the gear is not affected.
