The high-speed train runs fast. As the key component for power transmission, the helical gear of the gear box needs to bear the huge alternating load and shear force under high-speed rotation. The gear surface is easy to have faults such as abrasive wear and tooth root fatigue crack. These problems not only reduce the transmission efficiency, but also directly affect the driving safety. Although the traditional carburizing and hardening process can improve the gear hardness, there are some defects such as large heat affected zone and difficult control of tooth surface deformation. Especially for the complex tooth surface structure of helical gear, the strengthening effect is uneven. Based on the high-speed transmission requirements of high-speed helical gears for high-speed railway, the laser cladding equipment adopts the Fe-based wear-resistant alloy powder cladding process. Through a large number of tests, the optimal process parameters are determined: laser power 750W, powder feeding rate 20g/min, scanning speed 350mm/min, so as to ensure that the cladding layer and gear matrix form a solid metallurgical combination.

The hardness of the cladding layer formed by this process is up to 845-955HV, 2 times of the hardness of the gear matrix, and the hardness distribution is uniform, which effectively improves the wear resistance and fatigue resistance of the tooth surface. A high-speed railway operation and maintenance enterprise strengthened the helical gears of CRH380 series MU gearbox with an operation mileage of over 200000 km. After the unreinforced helical gears operated for 200000 km, the wear of tooth surface reached 0.25mm, which required forced replacement; For the helical gear strengthened by Dow laser cladding, the wear of tooth surface is only 0.05mm after 60000km operation, which still meets the requirements of safe operation, and the service life is directly extended by 3 times. In addition, the high-precision path planning system carried by the equipment can accurately adapt to the helical gear surface structure of the helical gear, and the thickness uniformity error of the cladding layer is ≤ ± 0.1mm, which ensures the stability of the gear transmission process and effectively reduces the transmission noise. Through the test, the reinforced gear box running noise is 12 dB lower than the previous, further improving the passenger comfort, and greatly reducing the cost of manpower and spare parts for high-speed railway operation and maintenance.
