Blade of cooling tower fan is a key component of cooling tower in electric power and chemical industry. It is used to realize heat exchange between air and circulating water. Its operating state directly affects cooling efficiency of cooling tower. Blades work in the open air for a long time, and are subject to sand erosion, ultraviolet radiation, rain wash and impact of extreme weather (such as strong wind and hail), so surface wear, edge crack, aging and deterioration of blades are easy to occur. These problems will reduce the aerodynamic performance of the blade, reduce the cooling efficiency, increase the operating load of the fan and increase the energy consumption; In serious cases, it will cause blade fracture and equipment failure. Traditional blade repair methods (such as FRP repair) have low strength, poor weather resistance and short service life after repair. Aiming at wind erosion and aging of cooling tower fan blades, Dow Laser cladding equipment adopts anti-wind erosion and wear-resistant coating cladding scheme, matched with anti-aging components, greatly improving the hardness, toughness and weather resistance of blade surface.

The equipment is equipped with large gantry frame and flexible cladding head, which can adapt to the large curved surface structure of the blade to achieve uniform cladding on the whole or part of the blade. The cladding layer and the blade matrix (FRP or metal material) are firmly bonded, not easy to fall off, and the wind erosion resistance is 3 times higher than that of the unreinforced blade. The blades of the cooling tower fan of a 300MW unit of an electric power company had obvious wind erosion and edge cracking after 5 years of use, and the cooling efficiency was reduced by 15%. The service life of the blade is extended to 15 years, the cooling efficiency is restored to the design standard, the operating load of the fan is reduced by 10%, and the annual power cost of a single fan can be saved by more than 120000 yuan after the application of Dow laser cladding equipment. The strengthening cost is only 40% of the replacement cost of new blade, and a single cooling tower can save more than 250000 yuan. At the same time, the enhanced blade has better resistance to extreme weather, reducing the risk of equipment failure.
