During the melting and conveying of plastic by the injection molding machine screw, the screw is eroded by the glass fiber-reinforced material. Traditional nitrided screws have a service life of only 6-8 months, with the cost of replacing a single screw exceeding 20,000 yuan. Daoke Dao Automation's laser cladding equipment uses Ni60+30% WC composite powder to apply a 2mm wear-resistant layer on the screw threads and feed section. The cladding layer has a hardness of HRC65-70, a bonding strength exceeding 400MPa, and wear resistance that is five times higher than that of the nitrided layer. A case study from a plastic factory producing automotive bumpers showed that the screw's service life was extended to 36 months after cladding, saving over 30,000 yuan per injection molding machine annually in screw costs. The equipment's automatic screw trajectory planning technology ensures precise replication of the thread profile, eliminating the need for secondary machining before installation after cladding.
