Local wear of injection mold inserts does not require overall replacement. By mastering these 3 steps, even beginners can efficiently repair them. Step 1: Preparation in advance. Clean the oil stains on the surface of the insert with alcohol, measure the wear amount with a micrometer (recommended wear amount is 0.05-0.5mm), and select a powder that matches the insert material (such as selecting 304 stainless steel powder for S136 insert). Step 2: Parameter Setting. Open the touch screen of the Daokedao device, select the "Injection Mold Insert" template from the preset database, and adjust the parameters according to the wear amount: select a spot size of 0.1mm and a power of 800W for wear below 0.1mm; select a spot size of 0.2mm and a power of 1200W for wear between 0.1-0.5mm, and set the powder feeding speed to 5g/min. Step 3: Cladding and Testing. Fix the insert on the dedicated fixture, start the automatic cladding program, and after completion, use a roughness meter to detect (Ra ≤ 0.1 μ m is qualified), and then calibrate the size with a micrometer. After one day of training, a novice operator at an electronics factory successfully repaired a Φ 20mm insert at a cost of only 200 yuan, saving 1800 yuan compared to a new insert. The service life of the repaired component reached 90% of that of a new one.
