Should we choose laser cladding or traditional welding for mold repair? Many manufacturers are torn between the two, and we provide an answer using three sets of core data. Group 1: Repair accuracy. Laser cladding focusing spot 0.1-0.3mm, dimensional tolerance ± 0.01mm, flatness error ≤ 0.005mm/m; Traditional welding spot size ≥ 2mm, tolerance ± 0.1mm, flatness error ≥ 0.05mm/m, additional grinding is required for precision mold repair, resulting in a 50% increase in cost. Group 2: Service life. After laser cladding repair, the blade life of a certain stamping die reached 100000 times; Traditional welding repair only requires 30000 times and is prone to detachment issues. The third group: comprehensive cost. A set of Φ 300mm die-casting molds, with a laser cladding repair cost of 80000 yuan and a lifespan of 15000 pieces; Traditional surfacing costs 40000 yuan, with a lifespan of 5000 pieces. The unit product mold cost for laser cladding is 0.53 yuan/piece, while traditional surfacing costs 8 yuan/piece. In addition, the laser cladding repair cycle is only 12 hours, while traditional welding requires 24 hours+8 hours of grinding, reducing downtime losses by 60%.
