"If it can't be repaired properly, it will have to be scrapped!" Last winter, General Manager Li of a certain automotive parts factory stomped his feet in frustration, staring at the aluminum alloy die-casting mold in the workshop. This mold, worth 800,000 yuan, had developed a 0.2mm crack due to thermal fatigue. Traditional welding caused severe deformation, resulting in a 40% defect rate during trial production. Upon the recommendation of a peer, Li contacted the Daokedao technical team. After on-site inspection, the engineers devised a three-step solution: "ultrasonic crack detection → pulsed laser cladding → stress relief." The process involved using a 200KHz pulsed laser to reduce heat input, filling the crack with cobalt-based high-temperature alloy powder, and implementing a 300°C preheating + stepwise slow-cooling technique. The repair was completed in just 12 hours, and the qualified rate of trial production soared to 98%. Now, the mold has been operating stably for 10 months, producing 200,000 parts. Li calculated the cost savings: the repair cost was 80,000 yuan, saving 720,000 yuan compared to a new mold and avoiding a 500,000 yuan loss from a one-month production halt. "This isn't just repairing a mold—it's saving our entire production line!" Li boasted to everyone at the industry conference.
