Aircraft engine bolts, spacecraft fasteners, and other aerospace components require extremely high strength and accuracy. Once slight wear occurs on the threaded parts, they need to be scrapped as a whole, resulting in huge cost waste. Traditional repair techniques are difficult to apply to such parts because they cannot guarantee the strength and accuracy after repair. The Daokedao laser cladding equipment adopts micro cladding technology, which can accurately fuse titanium alloy coatings on the surface of small threads such as M12. During the cladding process, real-time temperature monitoring and stress adjustment are used to ensure metallurgical bonding between the coating and the substrate. After repair, the thread accuracy reaches 6H level, and the tensile strength maintains more than 95% of the original part strength. After a certain aviation component manufacturer in the United States used this equipment to repair a batch of engine bolts, it was certified by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) that all repaired parts met aviation safety standards. The cost of repairing a single part was only 20% of that of a new part, and a single batch of bolts saved $80000 in cost. Currently, this technology has become the standard process for fastener maintenance in the company.
