Preparing wear-resistant bands on the surface of oil drill bit teeth and cones is the key to improving the life of the drill bit. The Daokedao laser cladding technology uses WC/Co composite powder to deposit a wear-resistant strip with a thickness of 2-3mm on the surface of the drill bit. By optimizing the multi pass overlap rate (40% -50%) and interlayer temperature control (<100 ℃), a defect free high-quality cladding layer can be obtained. The hardness of the wear-resistant belt reaches HRC65 or above, and its wear resistance is 8-10 times that of the base steel. On site drilling data shows that using laser cladding wear-resistant strip drill bits can increase the footage life in hard formations by more than 50% compared to traditional hard alloy overlay drill bits, and increase the average mechanical drilling speed by 15% -20%. A single drill bit can drill an additional 300-500 meters, with significant economic benefits.
