To address the wear problem of the tread of subway wheel sets, a rail transit company has introduced Daokeda Laser Cladding equipment for repair. The equipment uses high-hardness alloy powder (Fe-Cr-B-Si) and realizes uniform cladding on the tread (curvature radius 350-400mm) through dual-beam cladding technology. The thickness of the cladding layer is controlled at 2-3mm, and the roundness error of the repaired wheel set is ≤ 0.05mm. Load tests show that the contact fatigue life of the repaired wheel set is twice that of the wheel set repaired by grinding, and the repair cost of a single wheel is 60% lower than that of replacing with a new wheel. The equipment has been integrated into the wheel set operation and maintenance production line, capable of repairing 8 sets of wheel sets per day, helping the metro operation enterprise shorten the vehicle downtime.
