Plastic Laser Welding for EV Charging Components

Electric vehicle (EV) charging components—including charging ports, in-car chargers (OBC), and connector housings—operate in high-voltage, high-current environments, requiring high thermal stability, insulation, and flame retardancy. These components must also be hermetically sealed to prevent moisture and dust intrusion, which can cause short circuits and safety hazards. Traditional assembly methods often struggle to meet these requirements: adhesive bonding may degrade under high temperatures, while ultrasonic welding may not provide sufficient insulation or sealing. DaokeDao plastic laser welding provides a clean, reliable joining solution that addresses these challenges. The non-contact process eliminates thermal deformation, ensuring that charging components maintain their structural integrity and insulation performance even when exposed to high temperatures (up to 150°C) during charging. It forms a dense, hermetic seal that meets IP67 standards, effectively blocking moisture and dust. The welds are flame-retardant and resistant to electrical arcing, ensuring safe operation in high-voltage environments. Our laser systems support fast cycle times (up to 1.2m/min) and stable quality, making them suitable for high-volume production of EV charging components. They comply with strict standards such as IEC 61851 and IATF 16949, helping EV manufacturers improve the safety, durability, and reliability of charging systems.
