Extrusion die cladding: Dow improves the processing quality of profiles

In the extrusion process of aluminum profile and copper profile, the die is subject to high temperature, high pressure and metal flow friction for a long time, resulting in serious wear of die hole and difficult to guarantee the surface quality of profile. Dow automation laser cladding equipment adopts advanced laser cladding technology, accurately cladding a layer of dense and smooth wear-resistant coating on the inner wall of the die hole. Through the optimization control of process parameters, the surface roughness of the coating reaches a high standard of Ra ≤ 0.4 μ m. This smooth surface significantly reduces the extrusion resistance of the profile, and the actual test shows that the extrusion resistance is reduced by 15%. 

Taking a large profile factory as an example, before the aluminum profile extrusion die is treated with the Dow laser cladding equipment, the surface of the produced profile has obvious scratches and uneven surface due to the wear problem of the die hole, and the rejection rate is up to 3%. However, after laser cladding of the mould, not only the surface finish of the produced profile is improved by 1 level, but also becomes more flat and bright, and the scrap rate is reduced to 0.8% significantly. Meanwhile, the service life of the mould after cladding is significantly extended, the mould replacement frequency is reduced, the production cost is reduced, and the production efficiency and economic benefits are greatly improved.
