When beginners operate laser cladding equipment, they often make the following 5 mistakes due to unfamiliarity with technical details. Avoiding them in advance can greatly improve the quality of mold repair. Error 1: Powder not dried. Wet powder can cause porosity in the cladding layer, and the powder needs to be dried at 120 ℃ for 2 hours before use. Error 2: Inappropriate distance between laser head and workpiece. If the distance is too close, it is easy to burn the workpiece, and if the distance is too far, it will cause a difference in the bonding force of the cladding layer. The focal length should be kept within ± 0.5mm. Error 3: Preheating was not performed. Especially in winter or thick walled molds, they are prone to cracking if not preheated, and need to be preheated to 80-150 ℃ according to the thickness of the mold. Error 4: The melting speed is too fast. Excessive speed leads to insufficient melting of the cladding layer and a decrease in bonding strength. It is recommended for beginners to start trying from 3mm/s. Error 5: Ignoring post-processing. If not cooled slowly after repair, stress cracks may occur, and it needs to be kept at 200 ℃ for 2 hours. A novice operator made the first three mistakes, resulting in porosity and cracks in the first repaired mold. After being guided and corrected by Daokedao engineers, the second repair met the qualification standards, and the qualification rate increased from 30% to 95%.
