In the cold and hot alternating cycle of die casting die, the surface of mould cavity is easy to produce micro-crack. If not treated timely, the crack will expand rapidly and cause die scrap. Argon arc welding is used for crack repair of traditional moulds, which is easy to cause such problems as excessive heat affected zone, mould deformation and material property degradation. The success rate of repair is low, and the service life of moulds after repair is greatly shortened.

Dow laser cladding equipment adopts micro-beam laser precise cladding technology for cracking of die casting mould. Superfine laser beam is used to cladding the alloy powder on the crack to realize crack filling and strengthening. The heat affected zone of cladding process is controlled within 0.1-0.3mm, and the deformation of mould is almost negligible.

The repaired mould cavity surface shall be smooth without such defects as air hole and slag inclusion, the hardness shall be consistent with the surrounding base materials, and the service life shall be equivalent to that of the new mould. Dow equipment can also strengthen the mold cavity as a whole, prevent cracking and wear in advance, and extend the service life of the mold by more than 2 times. Compared with the replacement of new mould, the repair cost is reduced by over 80%, and the repair period is shortened to 3-5 days, which reduces the shutdown loss for the die casting enterprises and improves the production continuity.
