Application of laser cladding ceramic composite powder in racing brake discs

Racing brake discs require extreme high temperature resistance and wear resistance, while traditional carbon ceramic discs are expensive and susceptible to impact damage. The Daokedao automated laser cladding equipment uses SiC-Al2O3 ceramic composite powder to melt a 2mm strengthening layer on the surface of a titanium alloy disk base. The cladding layer has a high temperature resistance of up to 1200 ℃, a stable friction coefficient of 0.4-0.45, a weight reduction of 20% compared to carbon ceramic discs, and a 30% improvement in impact resistance. A test conducted by a certain racing team showed that after melting, the brake disc underwent 10 consecutive high-temperature braking cycles without thermal degradation, and the cost per disc was reduced by 50% compared to carbon ceramic discs. The customized melting solution of the equipment is suitable for the personalized needs of racing cars.
